We have stayed at an ABNB or two. Nothing bothers me more than when you pay good money for a place, and some owner tells you like 6000 ways that you are forbidden from having any fun.
Long story short, this is our personal house. We aren't some big conglomerate who can afford to replace everything once a month. Please treat the house with respect, and we will do whatever we can to make your stay perfect. We want you to come back next year.
Some basic rules:
People
It's cozy. The lodge sleeps 4–5 adults comfortably. We can accommodate groups of 6 if some of the guests are children. If you have concerns about the size of your group and the lodge, shoot us a message. If you want to bring 10 dudes up for a ski weekend, you will wish you rented a bigger place. Trust me, we tried it.
Pets
If you're going to bring Sprinkles and Fido, that's cool with us. We do have a two pet maximum due to space. Please note that our property is not fenced: There are lots of deer, fox, raccoon, and the occasional bear on the property. Please keep all pets on a leash, and clean up after them. We will have a couch cover for you to use on the living room couch. Help us out! Unannounced pet friends will be subject to a $250 fine.
Plush
My leather couch is my baby. PLEASE! Do not drink wine, coffee, juice or anything that can stain the leather. If the adults want to booze it up, or the kids want to go nuts with toys, the basement and/or porch is a great place for these shenanigans.
Potty
Our lodge runs on septic... please be kind!!!! Only human waste and toilet paper is allowed to be disposed down the toilet. Septics are expensive; and particular. Please place any other garbage in the trash (i.e. wipes, feminine hygiene products, diapers, paper towels, etc.) In the kitchen, cooking grease can be cooled and then disposed of in the trash. Please do not put food down the sink drain, as septic tanks aren't particularly hungry.
A few things that would really help us out before you leave:
Load any dirty dishes and start the dishwasher
Shut and lock all windows/doors as you leave
Ensure the heat is set to 50 degrees (nest), and the AC wall unit is off (white remote)
Exterior security cameras on property
Two external cameras record video and sound 24/7 — one overlooks the front door, one overlooks the driveway.
Carbon monoxide alarm
Smoke alarm
Winter weather notice
Driving in the Adirondacks can be tricky! All-wheel drive is strongly recommended. The property will be plowed/shoveled for any snow accumulation over 4 inches. Watch your step — significant snow and ice accumulation is a common hazard in winter.
